Bill is a 1970 graduate of Capital University, was drafted into the military right after graduation, and performed with the 384th Army Band in Norfolk, Virginia. Upon his honorable discharge he became a school band director and taught music for 30 years. He completed several summer sessions of instrument repair study at the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, and then retired from teaching in 2002. The very next day he began doing repairs for Martin Music in Newark. With 17 years of experience in the music store repair shop, he decided to open his own shop in Heath, Ohio in 2019. He is an active performing musician with the Newark/Granville Symphony, the Heisey Wind Ensemble since 1985, and the Heisey Wind Ensemble Big Band.
This is Bill's bench in the new shop.
Lots of parts & pieces... lots of tools.
Bill's forte is woodwind repair and has done work for Capital University, Denison University, numerous public school band programs, thousands of student musicians, and many professional players in central Ohio.
He also does brass dent work, straightening, soldering, valve and slide work, mouthpiece pulling, and acid bath/wash/lube services.
I am now working in my shop BY APPOINTMENT ONLY!
Please give me a call at (740) 281-9548 and I will be glad to meet you
and evaluate your instrument for repair.
